Seongsu Thai Restaurant Namjimrut - The Phat Phong Curry is Truly Amazing😋

The Place I Kept Seeing on Instagram Lately

A colleague kept recommending a delicious Thai restaurant in Seongsu, so I finally visited Namjimrut out of curiosity! I went with a friend on a weekday evening, and there were more people than I expected.

It's about a 3-minute walk from Seongsu Station? It's on the basement level of a building on Yeonmujang 5-gil. I was curious about what 'Namjimrut' meant when I saw the sign, and later found out it means sauce in Thai.

A Completely Different World Downstairs

Going down the stairs, it really felt like I was in Thailand. With exotic interiors and soft lighting, it felt like a trip to Thailand. The tables were spacious and the chairs were comfortable, making it nice to sit for a long time.

We were lucky to get in without waiting, but the people who came after us had to wait. It really is a popular spot. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation!

Fun Choosing from the Menu

The menu was really diverse. From the Thai dishes commonly seen in Korea to some unfamiliar ones, it was fun choosing. The prices ranged from mid-10,000 won to 30,000 won, so it wasn't burdensome.

The Food Finally Arrived!

Stir-fried Morning Glory (11,500 won)

First, the stir-fried morning glory, which is a must-order! It had a crunchy texture with a great garlic aroma. It wasn't too salty or sweet, just right. I felt like I could finish a bowl of rice with just this.

Tom Yum Noodles (17,500 won)

I love Tom Yum, and their Tom Yum was really rich! The sour and spicy taste was just my style. The minced meat added a deeper flavor to the broth, and the noodles were chewy, making me crave more.

Phat Phong Curry (29,000 won)

And the highlight of this visit! The Phat Phong Curry. I might come back just for this. It was filled with soft shell crab and shrimp, and the curry sauce was amazing. It was yellow curry, creamy with a strong spice aroma... Eating it with rice, I couldn't stop.

The Service Was a Pleasant Surprise

Since we ordered a lot, the owner gave us a dish called Khaiteot as a service! It was chicken thigh wrapped in chicken skin and fried, with crispy batter and juicy meat inside, it was really delicious. Receiving such attentive service made us feel even better.

Great Value for Money

For two people, we ordered stir-fried morning glory, Tom Yum noodles, Phat Phong curry, and two draft beers, and it came to about 60,000 won. Considering today's prices, I think it's reasonable. The portions were generous, so we were full.

Great for Exploring the Area

On the first floor of the building where Namjimrut is located, there's a famous pretzel café called Bakerin. It's nice to have a coffee after a meal, and Seongsu-dong itself has a lot to see, making it a great place to spend the day.

Honest Overall Review

It was a truly satisfying meal! I highly recommend the Phat Phong Curry. If you like Thai food, you must visit. I plan to go again soon. Next time, I want to try the Khao Kha Moo (pork leg rice).
