The Taste Endorsed by Choo Sung-hoon Himself, I Visited Macho Steak!
Hello! Today, I want to share my review of 'Macho Steak,' a really hot spot in Apgujeong these days. After seeing Choo Sung-hoon enjoy the Tokyo Ribera Steak so much on his YouTube channel, I heard that the same taste had arrived in Korea, so I rushed over!
๐ Macho Steak Information

๐ Business Hours: 11:30 ~ 21:00 (Break Time 15:00~16:00)
๐ธ Parking: Valet 4,000 KRW
I arrived around 11 AM on a weekday, and there were already 17 teams waiting! The estimated wait time was 126 minutes. Still, I registered on CatchTable and waited at a nearby cafe.
In reality, I waited about 68 minutes. When your turn is third, you'll get a notification via KakaoTalk, and that's when you head to the store.
The Store's Atmosphere is Truly 'Macho'
Upon entering, there were photos and gloves of Choo Sung-hoon, along with autographs from celebrities like Cha Eun-woo, Huh Gak, and Jo Se-ho. Seeing so many famous people had visited made me even more excited!
The Menu is Really Simple
The menu mainly consists of two options:
โข 1 Pound Choo Sung-hoon Steak (58,900 KRW) - Ribeye + Striploin 225g each
โข Macho Ribeye Steak (33,900 KRW) - 225g
I ordered the 1 Pound Choo Sung-hoon Steak. You can choose between Ribera Sauce (a traditional Japanese 50-year secret sauce) and Macho Sauce (a sweet sauce made from four fruits), and I chose the Ribera Sauce.
Finally, the 1 Pound Choo Sung-hoon Steak Arrives!
Wow! The sizzling sound is incredible. It comes rare, but the hot plate melts the butter, which seeps into the meat. The staff explains how to eat it: flip the meat once, cut it along the grill marks, and sprinkle a little sauce as you eat.
The composition is meat + rice + corn + sauce. It was great that rice, corn, and sauce were available for unlimited refills!
Time to Really Taste It!
Flip the meat once, cut it, sprinkle a little Ribera Sauce, and take a bite... Wow! It really melts in your mouth. The butter flavor is nice, and the meat itself is so tender that there's almost no need to chew.
The Ribera Sauce is a bit salty but has a savory taste. Just be careful not to pour too much, as it can get salty. I wanted to pour it like Choo Sung-hoon, but a little at a time suited my taste better.
Perfect with K-Dessert!
After finishing the meat, I mixed the remaining sauce, corn, and rice on the hot plate. This is the famous K-Dessert! It had a crispy texture like nurungji and was really delicious.
Honest Overall Review
Pros:
โ
Incredibly tender meat texture
โ
Unique sauce and fun way to eat
โ
Unlimited refills for a filling meal
โ
Staff provide friendly explanations
Cons:
โ The wait is really long (over an hour even on weekdays)
โ Price is on the higher side
โ The store is small, so tables are closely spaced
Overall, it was a special taste worth experiencing at least once! I can see why Choo Sung-hoon praised it so highly. However, considering the price, it might be a bit much to visit frequently, but it's great for special occasions or events.
Be prepared for the wait, but I guarantee you won't be disappointed by the taste! If you plan to visit, I recommend registering on CatchTable in advance and spending time nearby~ Enjoy your meal! ๐ฅฉ
