Recently, the weather has been hot, so I haven't had much of an appetite, but a friend kept recommending a "really delicious gopchang place in Gongdeok," so I finally decided to go. I actually like gopchang, but it's not easy to find a good place, right? But this time, it was really amazingㅠㅠ

It's about a 5-minute walk from Gongdeok Station on Subway Line 5? It's "곱 마포점" on Dohwa-gil. The sign with just the word '곱' on a gray wall was really chic. At first, I was like, "Is this the famous place?" but...

14 Years of Tradition, Already a Well-Known Restaurant

When we arrived, it was around 7 PM on a weekday, and there was a waiting line! Later, I found out that this place has been a gopchang specialty restaurant for 14 years. It has been featured on various shows like 'Tasty Road', 'Sikshin Road', and 'Restaurants with Queues', and it's even on Lee Young-ja's list of favorite restaurants. It's really impressive.

The wait turned out to be quicker than expected, so we waited for about 20 minutes. While waiting, I looked at the menu, and the signature dish was 'Garlic Gopchang'. They finely chop six cloves of garlic and stir-fry it with the gopchang, which made me really curious.

The Atmosphere is a Neat Korean Restaurant Style

When we went inside, it was more spacious and cleaner than I expected. There were many tables and even group seating, so it seemed like a good place for company gatherings. Most importantly, there was no smell at all, which was impressive. You know that typical smell of gopchang places? This place was really clean.

The staff were friendly, and the kitchen was open, so you could see the cooking process. It made me trust the place even more.

Finally Ordered! The Signature Garlic Gopchang is a Must

Looking at the menu, they had gopchang, daechang, and makchang, but we ordered the signature Garlic Gopchang (for two people) first. We also added daechang and ordered gopchang stew out of curiosity. For drinks, we went with cold beer!

Honestly, the price isn't cheap, but considering the current gopchang prices, it's reasonable. Especially since they say it's filled with gop, I was really looking forward to it.

The Real Taste of Ox Gopchang, So Much Gop

When the food came out, the visuals were amazing! They pre-grill the gopchang for you, and it was really filled with gop. There was also plenty of garlic on top...

With the first bite, I thought, wow... this is real gopchang. The gop was really savory and sweet, and the garlic aroma perfectly neutralized any greasiness. The texture was chewy, making it enjoyable to eat, and there was no off-putting smell at all.

The daechang was also incredibly tender. Usually, daechang is tough, so I don't like it much, but here it just melted in my mouth. It had just the right amount of fat and was delightfully savory.

Ending with Gop Fried Rice!

After finishing the gopchang, we asked them to make fried rice with the remaining gop. This is a must-do! The combination of the oil and the savory gop with the rice... it left me speechless.

The egg was nicely placed on top, and there was seaweed sprinkled over it, so it looked great and tasted amazing. My friend and I said, "This is really delicious," and we finished it in no timeㅋㅋ

Honest Overall Review - 200% Will Visit Again

The price is on the higher side, but it's really worth it. If you like gopchang, this is a place you must visit. Especially since it's filled with gop, the satisfaction level was extremely high.

Next time, I want to try the makchang and come with friends for a gopchang party. I really understand the taste of 14 years of tradition!
