I Visited Andong Nakgang Waterway Park! It's Truly Korea's Givernyㅠㅠ
A Spontaneous Trip to Andong Recommended by a Friend
My friend showed me a photo she saw on Instagram and said, "Hey, this place looks really pretty, let's go together," so we spontaneously decided to go to Andongㅋㅋ. Even from the photos, it looked absolutely beautiful, but when I actually went there, wow... it was truly different!
When I searched for Nakgang Waterway Park on Naver Maps, it came up right away. The parking lot is right in front, so it was super easy to find!
Is This Really Korea?
As we parked and went in, I was like, wow... what is this? It felt just like a garden in Europe. Are those metasequoia trees? Tall trees lined up with a pond and stone bridge in between, it was like a painting.
They call it Korea's Giverny, and it truly lives up to that name. It felt like something out of a Monet painting.
Captured a Life Shot on the Stone Bridgeㅎㅎ
The most famous spot here is the stone bridge in the middle of the pond. Everyone was taking photos there. Of course, we did tooㅋㅋ. But you really have to be careful. The stone bridge is super slippery, I almost fell into the water.
Still, the photos turned out amazing! My friend and I took turns taking photos, and they all came out beautifully from every angle. The reflection of the trees in the water was truly art.
Feeling Refreshed by the Fountain
It was quite hot since it was June, but when the fountain shot up from the middle of the pond, it was really refreshing. I don't know when the fountain goes off, but we were lucky to see it when we went.
There were many purple flowers blooming around the fountain, and I later found out they were iris flowers. At first, I thought they were daffodilsㅋㅋ.
A Perfect Spot for a Picnic
There are benches and pavilions throughout the park, making it a great place to relax. Many people were having picnics on mats. We promised to bring a packed lunch next time!
Sitting under the shade of the trees was truly healing. Just looking around made me feel good.
There's a Walking Trail to Andong Dam
If you have time, try walking the trail to Andong Dam. We only went halfway, but the view of the Nakdong River was amazing.
Next time, I definitely want to go all the way up to Andong Dam. I've heard the view from there is incredible.
How to Get There and Tips
Parking is really convenient. The parking lot is spacious, so there was no worry about finding a spot even on weekends. The restrooms were also clean and well-maintained.
🌟 Personal Tips
• Be sure to wear sneakers (the dirt paths are slippery)
• Be very careful on the stone bridge! (it's slippery and dangerous)
• Bring a mat if you have one
• It's great to visit with Woryeonggyo Bridge as a set
Honest Review
It's not that big, but it's really beautifully and efficiently designed. The greenery was so lush in June, which made it even more beautiful.
My friend and I promised to come back againㅎㅎ. I already want to go again. If you're traveling to Andong, I highly recommend it! Especially when paired with the night view of Woryeonggyo Bridge, it's the best.
It was truly healing. Highly recommended for those tired of everyday life!
