Gangnam's Unique Restaurant Mexitiger: The Perfect Combination of Tequila and Oven-Baked Chicken
The Place Going Viral on SNS! Gangnam Station Date Spot Mexitiger
I've been seeing this place a lot on Instagram lately, and I was so curious. Among my friends, Mexitiger is known as a hot spot in Gangnam! It was a friend's birthday, so I was looking for a special place and made a reservation to visit. It's great for a date course, but also perfect for small gatherings.
It's about a 4-minute walk from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station, so it wasn't hard to find. Just go one block inside from the main road, and you'll see it right away. The sign is so eye-catching that you can't miss it.

Oh, by the way, the entrance leads you downstairs, and as you go down the stairs, a completely different world unfolds! It felt like I was in Mexico with an exotic vibe. I think it was even more atmospheric at night.
An Overwhelming 200-Pyeong Interior
As soon as I entered, I wondered, 'Is this really Seoul?' The space was so unique. From the moment you go downstairs, the graffiti on the walls, the luxurious bar tables, and the soft lighting... It felt like something out of a Mexican movie.

The place was really huge. They said it was 200 pyeong, and it was much deeper and wider than it seemed from the entrance, which surprised me. It seemed like a popular spot for company dinners, and there were many small groups like us. The tables were spaced out, so it wasn't noisy and was great for conversations.
Most importantly, there was a slogan 'Please be Naked' throughout the place, which seems to mean to enjoy freely without reservations. There were even spots where you could sit comfortably without shoes!

The Signature Menu Recommended by Staff: 'Chicken Mole'
There were so many options on the menu that it was hard to choose. So, I asked the staff for a recommendation, and they strongly recommended the signature 'Chicken Mole.' It's a dish with chicken baked in a 300-degree oven, glazed with tequila, and served with the traditional Mexican sauce, Mole.

When I first saw the Mole sauce, I thought, 'Is this chocolate sauce?' But it turns out it's a traditional Mexican sauce made by simmering nuts, peppers, and various spices for a long time. The taste... I don't know how to describe it. It was savory, sweet, slightly spicy, and had a unique aroma of exotic spices. The oven-baked flavor and the tequila glaze made it perfect to enjoy with a drink!
An Unusual Combination of Korean and Mexican: 'Potato Pancake Quesadilla'
Another menu item strongly recommended by the staff was the 'Potato Pancake Quesadilla.' Doesn't the name make you curious? It's a fusion menu that reinterprets Korean potato pancakes in a Mexican style, and it was really fascinating.

Inside the crispy tortilla were potatoes, chives, onions, and lots of cheese that melted beautifully. It was really delicious. It seemed like a fusion menu that perfectly suits Korean tastes. Sometimes when you try these unusual combinations at restaurants, you might think 'Hmm... this is a bit...' but they made it really well here!
'Fish Taco' Fresher Than Expected
When you think of Mexican food, you think of tacos, right? We tried the fish taco, and the fish was really fresh. The crispy fried fish combined with savory tartar sauce and tangy sauce created a dance of flavors in my mouth.

The taco shell was really crispy, and the cabbage slaw inside was crunchy, adding a nice texture. While the Chicken Mole had a more exotic taste, the Fish Taco had a more popular taste that all my friends liked. Personally, there was a hint of cilantro, which might be a hit or miss for some, but I liked it.
Mexitiger with a Variety of Drinks
Since it was a friend's birthday, we had a drink, and as expected from a Mexican restaurant, there was a wide variety of tequila. I'm not usually good with tequila, so I was worried, but the staff recommended a tequila highball. Surprisingly, it wasn't too strong and was refreshing to drink.

My friend ordered something called a 'Tequila Slammer,' and it was really interesting. You slam the tequila glass on the table with a 'bang!' and drink it, which felt more like enjoying a performance than just drinking. It made the atmosphere more exciting and fun.
Waiting and Visiting Tips
We visited around 6:30 PM on a weekday evening, and there were quite a few people. Luckily, we had made a reservation by phone in advance, so we could sit right away, but those who came without a reservation had to wait about 15-20 minutes. On weekend evenings or late hours, the wait might be longer, so make sure to reserve in advance!

The price range was about 32,000 won for Chicken Mole, 24,000 won for Potato Pancake Quesadilla, and 22,000 won for Fish Taco for two people. Including drinks, it came to about 120,000 won for three people. For a restaurant in the Gangnam area, it seemed reasonably priced. Especially since the portions were quite generous, it was perfect for three people.
There's no parking, so you have to use nearby paid parking lots like the ELS Building or Starplex. The staff mentioned it's about 3,000 won for 60 minutes. It's really close to Gangnam Station, so it's convenient if you use public transportation.
Mexitiger, Visited by Famous Chefs, Worth a Visit?
I've heard that chefs like Choi Hyun-seok and Michelin chefs often visit Mexitiger. Celebrities like Lee Young-ja and Park Se-ri have also been there, so I think the taste can be trusted. The food was indeed delicious, and more than anything, it was fascinating to have such an exotic space in Gangnam.

If you're looking for a place with a good atmosphere and something special near Gangnam Station, I highly recommend Mexitiger! It's great for dates and gatherings with friends. It can be a bit noisy, so if you want a quiet conversation, it's better to go early.
Next time, I want to try the Mango Ceviche or Nacho Platter. Oh, and it was also featured on SBS 'Live Today,' so it's a place you can trust and visit!

Places to Explore Nearby
After dining at Mexitiger, there are places to explore nearby. Since it's around Gangnam Station, it's great for shopping, and if you walk a bit, there's a cafe street. We went to a dessert cafe nearby after our meal and had some cake.
Oh, and there are many unique experience cafes near Gangnam Station these days, so you can try things like escape rooms or VR experiences after your meal. It's nice to enjoy various courses!
If I visit again, I plan to try other menu items. I'm especially curious about the 'Cilantro Chicken,' a combination of Chinese and Mexican cuisine. If you have the chance, definitely check it out! If you want to enjoy unique flavors and atmosphere in Gangnam, Mexitiger is highly recommended~
