Sung Si-kyung's 'Meokultende' Sensation! A Review of the Hidden Bossam Restaurant Namdo Bossam Pajeon in Jangan-dong
Finally Visiting the Restaurant Sung Si-kyung Loves!
Recently, while watching Sung Si-kyung's 'Meokultende', I got completely hooked on a place. It's called Namdo Bossam Pajeon in Jangan-dong, and seeing Sung Si-kyung eat bossam kimchi looked so deliciousㅠㅠ. I was especially intrigued by the bossam kimchi with oysters, so I really wanted to visit!
Since it was the weekend, I was prepared for a wait... and it was indeed popular. I arrived a little before 5 PM, and there were already people lining up. I heard you can do remote waiting via Catch Table, so I'll try that next time!

Getting There and First Impressions
It's about a 10-minute walk from Janghanpyeong Station, but since it's located inside an alley, I got a bit lost at first. However, once I entered the alley, I saw the 'Namdo Bossam Pajeon' sign. The exterior really gives off the vibe of an old neighborhood eatery! It looked like they expanded by connecting several buildings.
As soon as I entered, I was greeted by the savory smell of kimchi... Ah, this must be the scent of a great restaurant. The inside was more spacious than I expected. There were quite a few tables, and it was bustling with a mix of locals and people who came from afar.

The Dilemma of Choosing a Menu
Looking at the menu, the bossam was divided into small (38,000 won) and large (65,000 won) portions. I went with a friend and ordered the small, but later realized the portion was really generous and more than enough! And I definitely wanted to try their famous seafood pajeon (23,000 won), so we ordered that too.
When ordering, the staff asked if anyone couldn't eat oysters or was sensitive to them. It was because the bossam kimchi contains oysters. I love oysters, so I just went for it!

Impressive Side Dishes
While waiting for our order, the side dishes came out first, and they were a work of art! Shrimp sauce, bean sprout soup, acorn jelly, stir-fried potato strips, blanched cabbage, seasoned bean sprouts, etc... Each one tasted like it was made with care at home.
The bean sprout soup was especially refreshing and clean. It really whetted my appetite before eating the bossam. Garlic, peppers, and ssamjang also came out, and they all had a deep flavor as if they were homemade.

The Seafood Pajeon Arrives First!
The moment I saw the seafood pajeon... Wow, it was really crispy! The size was just right and it was on the thinner side, but the outside was crispy and the inside was moist, achieving that perfect balance. The green onions were fresh and the seafood was plentiful, so when you took a bite, the savory flavor filled your mouth.
Sung Si-kyung mentioned in the video that it was a 'simple style pajeon', and it was really true. It wasn't flashy, but it had a solid foundation. It tasted even better dipped in soy sauce!

The Majestic Arrival of Bossam
And when the bossam finally arrived... my jaw dropped! The portion was enormous. My friend and I looked at each other, wondering if we could finish it allㅋㅋㅋ.
The meat was really tender and well-cooked. It was so well-cooked that it could be easily cut with chopsticks. The thickness was just right, and it wasn't too fatty, so it was easy to eat. It came out hot, with steam rising, making it look even more appetizing.

The Real Star is the Kimchi!
But the real star was the bossam kimchi! Three types were served: green onion kimchi, fresh kimchi, and dried radish kimchi, each in a separate dish. These kimchis were so... it was amazing how they could taste like this.
The bossam kimchi with oysters was especially a masterpiece! The kimchi was a bit on the salty side, but combined with the umami of the oysters, it was so delicious. I felt like I could finish a bowl of rice with just the kimchi. It made sense why they were called a master of bossam kimchi on 'Master of Living'.

A Perfectly Harmonious Meal
The taste of putting kimchi on bossam meat with a bit of ssamjang... it's indescribable! The tender meat, crunchy kimchi, and the ocean flavor of the oysters created a perfect harmony in my mouth. My friend kept saying 'delicious, delicious' while eating non-stop.
We had a truly happy meal, eating pajeon in between and cleansing our palate with bean sprout soup. The portions were so large that we were full and still had leftovers. Since takeout is available, I'll have to try taking some home next time.

Service and Atmosphere
The staff were really friendly. They asked in advance if anyone had an oyster allergy and told us to let them know if we needed more kimchi. I saw them bring snacks for guests with children, which showed their thoughtful care.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is typical of a neighborhood eatery. It's not flashy or sophisticated, but that's what makes it more charming. It was nice to see a mix of families, couples, and friends of various ages.
Price and Value
The total was 61,000 won for the small bossam (38,000 won) and seafood pajeon (23,000 won). Initially, I thought it was a bit pricey, but after seeing the portions, I felt it was actually good value. Especially, where else could you taste bossam kimchi of this quality?
And the side dishes were all made with care, and refills were freely available, so it didn't feel like a waste at all. I was grateful to experience such flavors at this price.
Visiting Tips and Precautions
Waiting is a given! Especially on weekends or during dinner time, the wait can be really long, so I recommend using Catch Table for remote waiting in advance. Early on weekdays seems to be better.
Parking is really difficult. Since it's inside an alley, there's almost no parking space. It's better to use public transportation. It's about a 10-minute walk from Janghanpyeong Station, so it's not too far.
Honest Overall Impression
I really understood why Sung Si-kyung introduced this place. It's not flashy, but it's a restaurant with a really solid foundation. The bossam kimchi, in particular, had a special taste that would be hard to find elsewhere.
The long wait makes it a bit burdensome to revisit, but it's still a place I want to go back to. It seems like it would taste even better in the winter during oyster season. If you like bossam, I highly recommend visiting at least once!
Next time, I want to order the large portion to enjoy even more. And I saw they have hongeo hoe, so I want to try that next time too. Thank you, Sung Si-kyung, for introducing such a great restaurant!
