The Hidden Gem of Hanam Misa, Sushi Hyun - Experience the Elegance of Omakase Sushi
Omakase in Misa that Adds a Touch of Special to Everyday Life
It was a Wednesday evening when I wanted to have a special dinner after a long time. The omakase restaurant 'Sushi Hyun' in Hanam Misa, which I often saw on Instagram, kept catching my eye. A friend who visited couldn't stop recommending it, saying they were completely satisfied, so I finally gathered the courage to make a reservation. Honestly, getting a reservation was like picking stars from the sky! I turned on vacancy alerts a month in advance and quickly grabbed a spot when it became available, haha.

Located at 155 Misagangbyeonhangang-ro, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, SKV1 Center, Commercial 101, Sushi Hyun is a small omakase sushi restaurant with only up to 7 seats. Since it's run by a single chef, it felt like I was being served with more care.
Exciting Steps from the Start
The way to Sushi Hyun wasn't difficult. It's located on the first floor of the large SKV1 Center building, making it easy to find, and the building's parking lot is well-equipped, so you can visit without worrying about parking. It's easy to find if you search on Naver Maps.
As soon as I opened the door and entered the store, the cozy atmosphere made me feel at ease. The counter-only seating allowed for close communication with the chef, which was nice. I loved the Japanese-inspired interior and the neat feeling.

A Feast of Flavors Awakening the Senses
I chose the 'Dinner Sashimi + Omakase' course for 59,000 won. They also offer a 39,000 won omakase for lunch, which is highly recommended for its value. Before starting the omakase, I ordered a highball, and it tasted just like the one I had in Japan, which made me happy.

The first course was matcha, which is said to enhance the flavor of sushi. A warm sip of matcha warmed my body and made me look forward to the omakase.
The first dish was dashimaki, a soft Japanese-style rolled omelet that melted softly in my mouth. Next was pickled radish gimbap, which was really delicious with a touch of wasabi, combining spiciness and saltiness perfectly.

The World of Sushi Unfolds in Order
The sashimi course featured flounder, which had a chewy yet soft texture that I loved. The flounder sashimi felt perfect for warming up.
The main sushi course began. The cuttlefish sushi was served with a pinch of salt, and the combination of softness and saltiness was truly delicious. The scallop sushi was fantastic with the taste of soy sauce.

The amberjack sushi that followed had a melt-in-your-mouth texture that was exquisite. The seared mackerel sushi had a smoky flavor that enhanced its nuttiness, making it truly delicious.
The highlight was definitely the fatty tuna sushi. It melted in my mouth the moment I ate it, and I had never tasted anything like it before. The rich fat of the belly and the original taste of the tuna created a fantastic harmony.

An Unforgettable Finish
The eel sushi was also a must-try. The sweetness of the sauce and the soft texture of the eel naturally elicited exclamations. My friend even said, "Hurry and try it, it's really delicious!"
After about 20 courses, the final dessert was melon topped with brown sugar. It was much sweeter than the melon I usually eat, making it a perfect finish to the omakase.

A Special Experience That Stays in the Heart
I think the biggest advantage of Sushi Hyun is its value for money and quality. An omakase in the 60,000 to 70,000 won range is unimaginable in Seoul, but the quality was not inferior to much more expensive places. With over 20 courses, I was fully satisfied, and the small store allowed for a private dining experience.
However, the seasoning is a bit strong, which might be polarizing. I loved the salty taste, but those who prefer less seasoned food might want to take note.
Reservations can be made through Naver or Catch Table, and I recommend booking at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance. Even if there are no spots, you can use the 'vacancy alert' feature to book when you're lucky.
