
Honest Review of Jongno Baekje Butcher Shop - The Fantastic Combination of Chadolbagi Wrap and Yukhoe Was Real
Is the Trending Chadolbagi Yukhoe Wrap Really Delicious?
After watching Kang Min-kyung eat it on YouTube, I was really curious about this combination! Wrapping cold yukhoe with hot chadolbagi? At first, I thought it was a bit strange, but my friend kept insisting we go, so we finally visited on a Friday evening. The weather was chilly, and I was craving some hot meat.

It's about a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Jongno 5-ga Station. If you enter the alley between Baeksu Pharmacy and Baekje Pharmacy, you'll find it right away. You can't miss it - the waiting line is a dead giveaway, haha.
Baekje Butcher Shop, a 30-Year-Old Traditional Restaurant

This place is a truly old and famous restaurant. They say it has a 30-40 year tradition. It used to be a local spot known only to those in the know, but recently it became super popular thanks to YouTubers visiting. Especially after Kang Min-kyung's video of wrapping yukhoe with chadolbagi went viral, it gained even more fame.
Although it's called a butcher shop, it's actually a restaurant where you can grill meat. You can buy meat at the entrance, but most people eat inside.
Be Prepared for a Wait

We went around 5:30 PM on a Friday evening, and the line was already very long. Fortunately, there's a second floor, so we got in quicker than expected, but it seems waiting is a given even on weekdays. There were many Japanese tourists as well.
Interior with a Strong Traditional Vibe

The interior has a typical traditional vibe. Some say it doesn't look clean, but I didn't mind the atmosphere. It felt like a place that wins with taste. There's a first and second floor, and it's quite spacious.
However, it's very noisy! The sound of men drinking and laughing is really loud. It might be overwhelming for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere. We were guided to the second floor, which was slightly better than the first.
Menu Selection and Order
The menu clearly highlights chadolbagi as the main dish. We were three people, so we ordered 500g of chadolbagi (47,000 won) and 500g of yukhoe (39,000 won). For two people, the half chadol-half yukhoe (52,000 won) menu seems just right.
And be sure to add the seasoned rice (2,000 won)! Save a little yukhoe and mix it with the seasoned rice to make yukhoe bibimbap. It's really delicious too.
Basic Setting and Side Dishes

The basic side dishes are quite decent. Kimchi, lettuce, perilla leaves, seasoned chives, garlic, and peppers are the basics. The seasoned chives were especially crispy and tasty.
And here's a tip! You can help yourself to seolleongtang broth. Drinking hot broth after eating cold yukhoe was really nice. It's free, so enjoy as much as you like, haha.
Finally, the Chadolbagi Arrives!

Wow, the quality of the chadolbagi is really good! The thick, rolled-up pieces look so appetizing. They say it's domestic beef, and for this quality at this price, it's really cost-effective.
We lined the grill with foil and placed onions and mushrooms on top first. Chadolbagi is thin, so it cooks quickly. You have to grill it yourself, but it's not difficult.

It shrinks a bit while grilling, but there's still plenty. Once cooked to the right level, you get soft and savory chadolbagi! It's good wrapped in lettuce or just on its own.
The Star of the Show, Yukhoe!

Finally, it's here! It comes as half yukhoe and half yuk sashimi. Doesn't it look amazing? Just the sight of it on lettuce makes it look delicious.
They say it's frozen yukhoe, but I didn't think it was bad at all. It was fresh, and the seasoning was well absorbed, making it tasty. It's mixed with pear and green onions, giving it a sweet flavor.
Compared to Gwangjang Market yukhoe, I personally think this is much tastier. The seasoning is clean, and the meat is tender.
Chadolbagi + Yukhoe = A Fantastic Combination!

I finally tried it! Putting cold yukhoe on hot chadolbagi and eating it in one bite. It felt a bit awkward at first, but it was really delicious! The contrast between hot and cold is fun, and the savory chadolbagi and sweet yukhoe harmonize in your mouth.
Now I understand why it's become so famous. It's a truly innovative combination. It's no wonder it's a hit on social media.
Finish with Yukhoe Bibimbap
We saved about a third of the yukhoe and ordered seasoned rice to mix it with. The seasoned rice includes a bowl of rice, egg yolk, gochujang, and lettuce-chive salad. Add the yukhoe and mix for perfect yukhoe bibimbap!
This is really delicious too. The carbs make it more filling and satisfying. It's also great as a side dish with soju.

차돌박이를 구워서 육회 싸먹는곤데 맛있어요! 추천드리지만 점점 웨이팅이 심해지고있습니당! 22년도에 갔는데 지금은 어떨련지 모르겠네요

여자 3명이 차돌 + 육회(반반 아님) 먹었어욤 고기랑 같이 나오는 야채도 구우면 진짜 맛나욤 5시 쯤 가서 바로 들어갔는데 6시 반쯤 나오니까 웨이팅 많더라구요 ~ 인기 ㅎㄷㄷ 그랴도 맛있어요~


엄청 맛있어서 두번째 왔어요 처음왔을때도 그렇고 이번에도 너무너무 더웠네요... 어쩔수없는걸까요? 너무 시끄럽고 너무 더워요 ㅠㅠ 그치만 너무 맛잇음 또 갈겁니당~~
예전에는 괜찮은 집이었는데 웨이팅도생기고 관광객들많이 방문하면서 굳이 갈만한 이유가 안생김 차돌에 육회는 맛있으나 만들어놓은 느낌도 들고 싱싱하지않아보임. 밑반찬이나 그릇도 깨끗하지않음
Sns에서 유명한맛집이라 기대반, 의심반하고 왔는데~ 광장시장 유명한 육회맛집보다 훨씬 맛있어요!! 차돌박이 굽굽해서 싸먹는것도 매력터지네요👍 또 가고싶어요 ㅋㅋ 광장시장 가시면 좀 걷더라도 백제정육점 가세요!



둘이서 차돌반+육회반, 양념밥 배부르게 먹었어요. 4시 30분 오픈이라 20분에 갔더니 한 25팀 정도 앞에 있는듯 했어요. 매장이 1,2호점 나눠져있고 꽤 커서 4시 40분쯤 들어갔습니다~ 사람도 많고 구워먹고 해서 더워요!!! 육회는 냉동이라 입안만 시원ㅋㅋ 암튼 양 많고 맛있어요!




고기 너무 맛있고 사장님도 좋아요 그런데 알바이모들(중국이모) 팁을주시는지? 할아버님들 한데만 기웃거리고 일반 2명 3명 젊은 손님들가면 필요한거 있어서 달라고 하면 듣지도 않고 할아버님들 시중 드시드라고 서비스는 너무 안좋아요 자주가는데 매번그래요 ㅠㅠ 너무 아쉬워요

회사근처라 점심시간에 이런맛있는 육회비빔밥을 먹을수잇는자!!!!!는 접니다. 저녁에도 고기에 같이 한잔하고싶은맛인데 웨이팅이많다고해서 점심시간에만 쓱 두번 가봤습니다 맛잇어요..맛잇어...여기너무맛잇어요..밥보다 많은 고기양...행복해요..
